SWG: Secondary Professions
June 23rd 2007 11:03
While the primary professions are your actual class in Star Wars Galaxies, there are a couple of extra professions you can enjoy with out changing your primary.
Pilot
With the first expansion pack, Jump to Lightspeed released on the 27th of October 2004, players could for the first time own and pilot their own starships. Large open space sectors were opened for players to pilot their ships where they could engage in Space-borne Combat.
The Pilot Secondary class was created to restrict what kind of star ships, abilities etc players could use at certain pilotting levels. The same three factions applied from the ground based part of the game, Imperial, Rebel and Nuetral (renamed freelance in space). Each faction having three different Fighter Squads to sign up with.
Mayor/Political
WIth the inclusion of player based cities, there was a need for someone to look after and maintain them. This Job was left up to the mayor of the city (Generally the person who started the city).
When the NGE was launched all existing Characters were given instant "Master Politician" class.
Beast Master
The first edition to the professions since the NGE was released. The highlight newest Chapter, Chapter 6: Masters of the Wild, brought back the Creature Handler and Bio-Engineer professions from pre-NGE. To become a "Beast Master" a player can sacrifice all of their expertise abilities from their primary professions and spend it in the Beast Master tree.
Beast Masters can create, raise and train pets that can be found in the wild. To begin with the Beast Master (BM) needs to extract DNA from a creature in the wild, then using an Incubator and adding looted ezymes, they can transform the DNA into an Egg. The BM can then decide to hatch the egg, where then he needs to train the creature to make it grow.
From experience i can say one of the best places to train a new born creature is at Mos Eisley on Tatooine.
