Where do we begin with this one? Two of the biggest franchises come together to make one awesome game. Lego, the popular interlocking plastic building bricks from Denmark that were created in 1949. And Star Wars, Originally a blockbuster movie first realeased in 1977 which now spans Movies, Toys, Books, Games and tons more! In 1999 when the first of the Prequals were released, Star Wars episode I: the phantom menace, Lego got the rights to create a toyline for them and as each new movie was released so did more toys, the Original Trilogy Included.
Both franchises had made games before, not many of Lego's attempts were really any good and Star Wars have a hit and miss history of making good games. Most of the early reviews i had read before the game was released had already presumed that the game with both franshises was going to be a flop, and boy were they wrong.
Originally slated as being a kids game, i have heard that alot of adults have also enjoyed the game. The developers had added in alot of humor, and fun gameplay (puzzles) which could attract some of the adults, while also being not too difficult for the younger audience. Making this game excellent for Adult gamers and their kids to play two-player co-op together.
Lego Star Wars was such a hit, that it reached the top of several charts only to be knocked off by the official Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith game. It spawned a Sequel a year later following the Original Trilogy (The more popular one with fans).
My rating: 4/5
(reduced in rating after playing sequel)
