Future Look: Star Wars The Force Unleashed

July 25th 2007 03:22

The next wave of Star Wars stuff is here! Titled Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Lucasarts is going to be releasing its next multimedia project mid 2008. It will spand games, comics, a novel, and role playing game, and a toyline by Hasbro.

For the first time since Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (except with the movies), there will be star wars merchandise that follows mutliple platforms.

The Force Unleashed will be released on PS3, 360, PSP, DS, PS2 and perhaps a PC version (though not yet confirmed).

Basically from the information ive been able to dig up about it, it is going to be set between episodes 3 (Revenge of the Sith, the lastest movie) and episode 6 (A New Hope, the original movie). And will be focusing on Darth Vader and his complex storyline during the 19 years between the movies. However players will play as Darth Vaders apprentice, those who know the Star Wars lore will know that there are only ever supposed to be two Sith at a time a master (Emperor Palpatine aka Darth Sideous) and the Apprentice (Darth Vader). So it would seem that the unhealth relationship between master and apprentice has fallen to a new low and Vader has gotten himself a secret apprentice, perhaps to train up and help him over throw the Emperor.

The game itself is going to be revolutionary, a real next-generation game by using the new Euphoria Engine (As seen in GTA4 and Indiana Jones 2007) and a new Graphics engine "Digital Molecular Matter" designed by ILM (One of the Movie Industries Major CGI and Special Effects specialists), Pixelux and NaturalMotion.

The First official trailer can be found here: Link to Trailer
(Up the top you can find links to their trailers for the Digital Molecular Matter Engine and Euphoria Engine)
