After fighting the good fight on battlefieds through out modern history, WW2 in Battlefield 1942, Vietnam War in Battlefield Vietnam and then Modern Warfare in Battlefield 2 the next logical step for DICE was to go to the future.
Set in 2142 (200 years after the original game) during Earth's second Ice age, Humans are still at war with themselves. As habitable living spaces become harder to find due to the Ice Age, two sides fight for their survival. The EU formed by the countries of Europe, and the PAC the Russian and Asian alliance.
Gameplay is pretty much the same as previous titles with a few differences. First of all is the choice of four different 'kits' (classes): Assualt, Recon, Support, Engineer. Each have their own weapons and uses. As you progress up Ranks online you unlock additional items for your kits.
There are now three different game modes: Conquest, Titan mode (Online only) and Assualt lines (Northern Strike Expansion Only).
Overall a fun game to play online, not all that good by yourself though, with alot of unlocks, badges, medals and other stuff to unlock while you play up the ranks, it will keep you entertained for hours at a time.
